So what is Psi? The term "psi" was originally coined by Robert Thoules when he originally published it in the British Journal of Parapsychology. It was a reference to ESP and originally was divided into what was called Psi-Gamma and Psi- Kappa.

The term ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) was coined by, Duke University researcher, J. B. Rhine. Extra Sensory Perception is the ability of the consiousness to perceive and interpret information directly without the use of the standard five known senses. Parapsychologist, Robert Thoules, initially divided ESP into the two classes mentioned earlier, Psi-Kapp and Psi-Gamma. Psi-Gamma referred to the gathering of information directly by the consiousness via an application of ESP (telethapy, empathy, etc.). Psi-Kappa referred to information passing from the human consiousness out into the environment, therefore, implementing a change (the different branches of Psychokinesis).

So what is Psi? In layman's terms, psi is a collection of abilities which center around the consiousness percieving and affecting information and/or matter directly. This encompasses precognition, postcognition, telepathy, empathy, the varying aspects of psychokinesis, etc.
